Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards will be remembered for host Ricky Gervais’ loved-it-or-hated it patter, some very distinct trends in the women’s gowns (blush-to-hot pink, emerald green, long sleeves), and a somewhat lackluster showing in the hair department.

However, one look has already borne requests of, “Can you do that with my hair?” That’s the retro/updated hairstyles with deep side-parted bangs and controlled waves that were some of the most gorgeous, classic and romantic styles of the night: January Jones, Diana Agron, Meghan Fox, Milla Jovovich, Naya Rivera, and Anne Hathaway.

We saw it all this year at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards, from heavy bangs paired with long hair on Sandra Bullock, to a soft fringe on Olivia Wilde

From short and simple on Michelle Williams to short and tossed like Edie Falco – to short and well…”wow, that’s bold” by Annette Benning
Carrie Underwood/InStyle.com
We saw a simple updo on Julie Bowen, the classic French twist on Natalie Portman, and Carrie Underwood’s neat and ultra-smooth updo with a slight lift at the crown and sideswept bangs.

Haircolor made strong statement from pale platinum (Michelle Williams and Emma Stone) to tones of soft golden honey (Claire Danes, Diana Agron, Heidi Klum), and the range of rich browns from Jennifer Lopez’ deep honey brown locks to Anne Hathaway’s mocha-with copper-highlights to the deepest espresso on Kim Kardashian, Meghan Fox and Camilla Belle

Perhaps the strongest color statement came from the ever-unpredictable, always eye-catching muse of Vivienne Westwood and Tim Burton, his wife Helena Bonham Carter. Her hair was a lovely shade of Merlot.
We all want to see a bit of the Golden Globes in ourselves, arriving at an event with the perfect hairstyle and makeup, the right outfit and the sexiest shoes. Those moments can turn anyone into a movie star, if just for an evening, and we’re here to help you feel like the star that you are.
